I am delighted to be able to reveal that my image 'Sgioport Pony #1' has been shortlisted in the prestigious Sony World Photography Awards. It is amongst just 15 images chosen for the Natural World and Wildlife category, chosen by the judges from more than 345,000 images from 203 territories submitted to this year's Awards. I am one of only 24 UK photographers to reach this stage.
I first found out about this in January. At that time, the announcement on the shortlisted image was to take place in February to be followed by inclusion in the annual summer exhibition at Somerset House in London. However, January was a very long time ago. The exhibition is postponed, as is our trip to London!
Nonetheless, this is still some good news. The photograph will be in the 2020 World Photography Awards book, and the exhibitions are likely to go ahead later in the year / early 2021.
I will, of course, mention this again.
