I posted the background on this occasional series in March (here) when I visited the location for the cover image of Paul Strand's book.
This post focusses on the picture of Loch Skipport (Loch Sgioport) which appears on pages 58/59 in my version of Tir A'Mhurain
This photograph is taken from the road by the old pier which will have been in better condition than it is now. However, it wouldn't have been operational when Strand visited, having been replaced by Loch Boisdale as the main port for South Uist around the turn of the century.
The view today has changed little. There is a fish farm around the bay, and the roof of the house in Strand's photograph is no more.
